Hi humans!
Christmas is just around the corner and as usual I am ill-prepared. I have bought a few things for people but not for everyone, so I really need to get a move on. Next week I am heading off to the country again to spend Christmas with my family, which I am really looking forward to. Not to fear, I have created my Christmas comic for next week, so it will be up on Sunday. I probably won't be in any condition to write coherently, so it should be a very short (and possibly incoherent) blog next week
Some updates about penguinart.net. I have been working on the online store for a few weeks now, and have finally found a company that meets my online requirements. I have bought a few T-shirts myself so I can verify the quality of the products (though they assure me I will not be disappointed). You can click on the banner on the right, or the new buttons at the top of the page to get there.
There are a few things worth noting if you are interested in T-shirts. First, you get $1 off for buying two shirts of the same kind (eg, same design/product but different colour). The next discount comes at buying 12, and I can't imagine why anyone needs the same shirt (plus color choices) 12 times. Also, right now the company is providing free delivery if you spend $50 or more. Delivery in the US is cheap anyway (about $5), and since I live in Australia, I paid international delivery which for me was $20 (for 8 shirts), which is still pretty good IMO.
Also, as a continuation of last week, I have continued to add little shadows and highlights to the comics to make them look a little nicer. I also have a new and more comical polar bear. I think it still needs some refining but it's a start.
An earlier comic got blogged about on blogspot a few days ago which is kind of exciting for me, I still get surprised when I find out that people are looking at and coming back to my comic. While I am inflating my ego, I got what I could arguably call my first "fan mail" a week or two ago. Thanks again to MOOPER, one of the first to subscribe to the penguin art newsletter.
Speaking of the newsletter, I have made some graphics for it today, and am busily improving it as I write this. It is still not to my satisfaction but at least it is better than last weeks.
I don't really have anything to say about the comic, it is just another strange little thing that floats around my head.
In Melbourne this week, Kylie Monogue is finishing up her 7 concerts, that's right, she spent a week singing to the Melbourne crowds, now she has to go sing for the rest of Australia and be back in the UK for the New Years Celebration there (where she is performing again). Also Robbie Williams is in town for 2 concerts before he continues to tour the country. I don't like either (in terms of their music) but it is still interesting because whenever something big happens, the city seems to come to life, with the fireworks, and revellers in the streets, lights and all that kind of stuff.
I am going to finish up the newsletter and send it out, then I think I will just relax and enjoy my Sunday for a bit
